West Ham have been linked with a lot of striker options this summer after noting that some of the strikes are at the prime of their contracts.

Eddie Nketiah has been linked with a possible move to the Hammers side, but it seems the Gunners have handed him a huge price tag, which could see the iron opting out of the deal.

As reported by Charles Watt at Fabrizio Romano Daily Briefing, he believes the fee is an overestimate because interested parties, including West Ham, would baulk at that price.

The Gunners value Eddie Nketiah at a release clause of £50 million, which, as reported, is too much for Westham to make any deal at the moment.

Eddie Nketiah was a perfect addition to Mike Arteta’s squad last season, though he wasn’t among the first choices for his starting XI.

Crystal Palace have historic interest in the England Under-21 international, while West Ham and Southampton are among other clubs also in the market for a new striker.

However, the Gunners’ valuation coupled with Nketiah’s wages, well in excess of £100,000-a-week having signed a new five-year deal in the summer of 2022, are likely to put off a lot of his suitors.

Arsenal are weighing whether to add to their forward line after missing out on top target Benjamin Sesko.

While Nketiah has proven himself in the Premier League, his lack of minutes for Arsenal should not really warrant the £50 million price tag, which should see the Hammers look to other targets.

West Ham to seal the Eddie Nketiah transfer?

It seems pretty evident that the Irons want to add a striker to their ranks this season, especially with Michail Antonio in the twilight of his career and Danny Ings facing an uncertain future.

McAvennie, speaking to West Ham Zone, is inclined to agree that the fee would be too high but said he would love to see a player of Nketiah’s caliber move to the London Stadium.

“I think the £50 million fee might be too high, but you never know with David Sullivan; he’s always willing to do a deal,” he said.

“I think it’s just talk; I really do. We’re always going to buy this player or that player, and we never get any of them.

“I think the fans are just a wee bit wary of that, but we’ll see how it goes. He’s the kind of player I’d love to see at West Ham. I’d love to see him there.”

Edie Nketiah could be a perfect addition to the Hammers depth next season, but as reported, before a possible deal can be done, the Gunners will have to reduce the price tag on the 21-year-old.
