Breaking News: Chelsea confirms another fresh departure as another blues player is set to depart for just £20m despite being bought with a huge sum of money.

As many as six players could leave Chelsea during the January transfer window. Next month, Enzo Maresca will be looking to refine his squad as the Blues gear up for the business end of the season. The Blues enjoyed a promising start to the campaign despite some rotten luck. Levi Colwill suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the first week of pre-season, but Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah have stepped up to the plate in his absence.

Cole Palmer and Liam Delap missed a large chunk of the opening months due to injury, yet Maresca still found ways to perform in the final third. Chelsea were also shown several red cards, with one of them going to Moises Caicedo, who ended up missing three crucial games at the start of the festive period.

The west Londoners persevered through the trials and tribulations, climbing up the Premier League and UEFA Champions League tables. Maresca will be looking to push on in the new year and get his hands on some more silverware.

Badiashile also faces somewhat of an uncertain future at Chelsea, despite showing glimpses of great promise. The 24-year-old defender, who the Blues signed from Monaco for £35million in January 2023, has struggled to stay fit.

That said, he has done well when called upon, notably playing a key role in the 2-1 win over Liverpool in October. Ultimately though, Fofana and Chalobah have emerged as Maresca’s preferred partnership, Josh Acheampong looks primed for more minutes, and Colwill will be back in the summer.

Buonanotte has hardly featured for Chelsea this season. The Blues signed the 20-year-old attacking midfielder on loan from Brighton at the end of the summer transfer window as emergency cover for Cole Palmer.

But, Maresca rarely relied on him. Instead, the Chelsea boss, rightly or wrongly, persevered with Enzo Fernandez in a slightly more advanced role. Buonanotte could still end up playing a key role for the Blues in the new year, but, with no option to buy, there’s no incentive for either party to force a square peg in a round hole.

Jorgensen has fallen victim to Robert Sanchez’s excellent upturn in form. Barring a mistake at Old Trafford in September, the Spaniard has been brilliant for Chelsea, locking horns with David Raya for the Golden Glove award.

If Denmark manage to qualify for the World Cup via the play-offs at the start of next year, Jorgensen will want to be well-positioned for a call-up. The 23-year-old made his international debut in June and he hasn’t featured since, having hardly played for the Blues.

Disasi will be looking to turn over a new leaf in the new year after falling out favour at Stamford Bridge. The 27-year-old defender was told he could leave in the summer, but a move never materialised.

Disasi was then informed that he was no longer part of the first team plans, training separately from Maresca’s side at Cobham. In November, the France international began featuring for the development squad after impressing staff behind the scenes.
